Live Mapping
Once you have loaded a TuneBoy map into your ECU you can make changes to fuel and ignition while the motor is running. This allows a dyno operator to tune the motorcycle faster than they could if they had to stop and reflash the ECU before any changes are made.
With a wideband O2 sensor in each exhaust pipe, the TuneBoyTrim software on the PC will record the mixture from each cylinder and make corrections to bring the air fuel ratio to the point that provides best power and smoothest running of your motor.
Note: Requires Tuning map, or Cruise and Tuning map.
Cruise Control
The TuneBoy Cruise Control map file adds full electronic cruise control to your motorcycle. This allows you to hold speed at the push of a button.
When the cruise control is activated the ECU will monitor the speed of the motorcycle and adjust the throttle to hold the set speed – just like the cruise control in a modern car. Cruise will hold within 2kph under most conditions.
If you touch the front or rear brake the ECU will drop out of cruise control mode and the throttle will return to the closed position. The clutch will also disengage the cruise control.
While the cruise control is active the rider can apply throttle to overtake and the cruise control will take over control again once the speed drops to the set cruise speed.
If you purchase the optional TuneBoy Nudge Buttons you can adjust the cruise control speed using the nudge buttons. The nudge buttons can only be used with our Tune and Cruise maps.
On the Panigale the menu up and down buttons can be used to adjust the cruise speed.
On the Panigale 1299, Panigale R and the SuperLeggera the Up/Down rocker can be used to activate cruise control.
Auto Tuning
The auto-tuning software feature allows you to tune the low throttle area using the standard narrow band O2 sensors that your motorcycle comes with. It requires a connection to the PC running the TuneBoyTrim software. The TuneBoyTrim software will adjust the fuel trim tables to bring the air fuel ratio to the target 14.7/1. Once the trim tables have been auto-tuned to the 14.7/1 target you can manually adjust the low throttle area to a target air fuel ratio that will provide a much smoother ride.
Auto-tuning is not a replacement for dyno tuning however it does provide a simple way to smooth out the rough running that most Ducati’s have at low throttle and low RPM.
Map Switching
The TuneBoy map files allow you to load up to three different trim maps when you reflash the ECU. This allows you to load a power trim map and a fuel economy trim map at the same time.
The existing riding modes on the motorcycle do not change fuel values, they simply select different electronic throttle tables to change the way the motor delivers power.
Switching between the TuneBoy trim files is done by turning the ignition on, turning the throttle to the full throttle position and pulling the clutch in. The selected trim map is indicated on the rev counter-
5000 RPM indicates you have selected the first trim map,
7500 RPM indicates the second map,
10000 RPM indicates the third trim map.
Once you have selected the desired trim map you can start the motor. The map selected will continue to be used until you select a different one, even if you turn the motorcycle off and on.
Extra Power Modes
The Extra Power Modes only apply to the Panigale models.
The TuneBoy map files have two extra power modes when the high power engine mode is selected.
These extra power modes can only be used when the engine power is set to the high power mode. They are selected by turning the throttle to full and pushing the menu up button-
5000 RPM indicates the standard Ducati high power mode,
6000 RPM indicates the TuneBoy linear torque power mode,
7000 RPM indicates the TuneBoy short pull power mode.
The TuneBoy linear torque power mode provides torque proportional to throttle position. The graph below shows the torque on the Panigale 1299 when the throttle grip is held at 25%. The red line is the torque with the standard Ducati high power mode and the blue line is the TuneBoy linear torque power mode.

The short-pull power mode provides the same power delivery as the linear power mode, it just does it sooner. In this mode full power is at 70% throttle grip rotation.
Strain-Gauge Quick Shifter
The strain-gauge Quick Shifter is available for the Multistrada 1200, Diavel and all Panigale models except the Panigale R and 1299 as these models already have the up and down shift option.
The TuneBoy strain-gauge shifter is custom made to fit without any wiring modification necessary. The quick shifter plugs into one of the O2 sensor plugs on the existing wiring loom (bike specific).
The strain-gauge Quick Shifter has no moving parts. It measures the amount of force applied to the shifter and outputs a voltage that the ECU can measure.
The TuneBoy map file allows you to set the amount of pressure required before the quick shifter kills the power allowing you to adjust the shifter for your riding style.
The shift pressure is automatically increased at higher throttle openings to make sure you do not have any missed shifts.
The Tuneboy strain-gauge Quick Shifter can be used in regular or race shift pattern; you simply select “Race Pattern” in the TuneBoy configuration options to tell the ECU you have a race pattern setup.
Auto-Blip Using Strain-Gauge Quick Shifter
The auto blip allows clutchless down shifting. The TuneBoy strain-gauge Quick Shifter is required for this option.
When you push down on the gear lever the ECU detects this and it will “blip” the throttle to unload the gearbox providing a “smooth as silk” down shift without needing to pull in the clutch.
The ECU will also hold a small amount of extra throttle after the shift to reduce the engine brake effect allowing the motor to catch up to the wheel speed without locking up the rear wheel. During this catch-up period the power is killed to make sure the motorcycle does not lurch forward.
Launch Control
The latest TuneBoy maps provide a Launch Control feature.
This feature controls the rate that the motor can increase revs in first gear. With the clutch pulled in, the motorcycle in first gear, and speed at 0 KPH/MPH, the launch control rev limit takes over from the standard rev limiter.
You can now turn the throttle to 100% and the RPM will hold at the RPM you set in the configuration page (6000 RPM in the example below).
Once you release the clutch the RPM will hold for up to 500 milliseconds then sweep up until it reaches the normal rev limit value.
If you change gear the launch control ends and the normal rev limit will be used.
The RPM sweep rate increases as RPM increases; this helps control any wheel spin or front wheel lift by slowing the initial increase in revs without imposing too slow a sweep rate.
Note: The sweep rate is the speed that the rev limiter will climb back up to the normal rev limit.
The hold RPM, hold time and sweep rate can be adjusted to suit your riding style to ensure you get the perfect race start.

Shift Light
The shift light feature allows you to fit a bright shift light to your motorcycle, this simply plugs into the second O2 sensor plug (if unused).
