Force new driver to load

Introduction

Sometimes Windows thinks the drivers it has are better than the drivers you are trying to install, in this case you need to force Windows to load the correct derivers.

The example given is Windows XP, some screens may look different under Windows Vista, Win2K or Win98/ME but the process is the same.

1. Update the device drivers for the cable (The cable must be connected to the PC when you do this).

Start Device manager, you can do this through the control panel or by selecting "Start" then "Run" (Windows XP), or by clicking on the Start orb on the bottom left of the screen (Windows Vista), type mmc devmgmt.msc and hit enter, click Continue on the warning prompt and the following screen will be displayed. Click the + next to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" to expand the list of USB devices.

Right click on the "TuneBoy Device" and select "Update Driver", the following screen will be displayed.

Make sure you select "No, not at this time" then click the Next button.

Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" then click the Next button.

Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" then click the Next button.

Click the Have Disk button.

Type C:\TBDrivers then click the Browse button.

Select the correct folder for your version of Windows then click the Open button.

Click the Open button, then click the OK button on the next screen.

Click the TuneBoy Device, then click the Next button.

Click the Continue Anyway button.

Click the Finish button.

Now unplug the cable and plug it back in again, the Advanced tab will be displayed under the device properties and you can continue the previous tutorial.
