Sagem ECU re-mapping software.
The product on this CD allows the
computer on the RST Futura or Caponord to be remapped for the Staintune pipes. This is
possible because the Sagem ECU (Engine Control Unit) on these bikes contain flash memory rather than the
normal EPROM's (replacement chips) in less complex systems. There is no need to install a fuel
modifier unit on the bike when you can re-map the ECU.
The software package also provides a
diagnostics tool to allow you to run onboard tests of the electronics on the
bike and to view and reset errors.
Documentation for the diagnostics and tune editing software are provided in word format on the CD.
I have also included the maps for both the bikes shown below, the map for the RST took almost two full days on the dyno and 78 dyno runs. This was made up more of part throttle runs than full throttle runs, after all on the road we use part throttle far more than full throttle.
To use the software you need to purchase a cable and the software key
for your bike. For more details on this you can email TuneBoy@optushome.com.au
or go to TuneBoy home page or TuneBoy backup home page
The re-mapping was done on a Dynojet 150 dynamometer, All before and after graphs are on
the same day with the same bike on the same dyno.
| This image shows the RST horsepower at the rear wheel, The
red line is the bike in standard trim with the intake restrictor removed,
The green line is the same bike with the Staintune pipes fitted, The blue
line is this bike with Staintune pipes and the ECU remapped. (Click image

| This is the same as above except it shows the
torque instead of horsepower |
 |
| This is a second RST with Staintune pipes fitted, this one has the baffles fitted. The two lines show the bike with the standard Aprilia tune with Staintune (baffles fitted) then with a modified tune. If you compare this with the previous bike you can see that even with the baffles in the pipes the fuel mapping needs to be adjusted to get the most from the bike. |
 |
| The Caponord has a very bad rich spot at low revs, this causes the stumble in the engine if you give it a large amount of throttle at low revs. This first graph shows the air fuel ratio versus horsepower before and after re-mapping. |

| This graph shows torque versus horsepower before and after re-mapping, Both cases have the Staintune pipes fitted as I did not get a chance to run the bike with the standard pipes. |

| The fueling was modified for front and rear cylinders. This shows the piping connected to the front header to read the air fuel ratio. |
